Allowing Unhappiness

Claudia Aronowitz

If you have been following my work for a while you will know that I am a positive person, constantly learning and always ready for what comes next. I try to inspire others to pay attention to what is positive and what we have control over in our lives.

AND (my favourite word in the dictionary)…

Despite all of this, it felt so good this week to let go and complain. To cry a little. To allow some unhappiness and to accept and be with the difficult feelings that I was having.

One evening this week I went for a walk with a friend and when she asked how I was I decided not to say “fine” as we so often do. Instead I told her that in general I feel blessed but that I was struggling. I even took it a bit further and asked if I could take our walk to complain because I felt the need to not be so positive and thankful right then.

It felt so good to let out how I was really feeling and to talk about the things that were difficult. I felt lighter afterwards.

“The foundation of happiness is allowing unhappiness” –   Tal Ben-Shahar

Life is an amazing journey

I believe that life is a challenging, difficult, amazing and magnificent journey.

I believe in the power of small changes and small shifts to help us focus on the good in our lives, to take action over the things we can control and to constantly be amazed by the beauty of our world. I believe in

  • Practicing gratitude
  • Taking responsibility for our actions
  • Constantly learning and adapting
  • Showing appreciation to others

AND

I know that we are all perfectly imperfect human beings.

Today I invite you to let yourself answer honestly when someone asks you how you are. Because complaining a little, crying a little and being honest about how you are feeling does not diminish your ability to be a positive and grateful person.

I encourage you to just be with whatever feelings you need to be in, in the moment.

With deep appreciation,

Claudia
